Interesting observation. Both those fish were caught at same time. I caught the larger one, and before I could get it off the hook, the small one bit, so I did a "two-for" selfie. And yes, you'd think they'd be the exact same tint coming out of the same water like they did. The color of the crappie also speaks to the color of the water. If the water was green with algae, the crappie would be almost silver. Remember the silver crappie I'd catch on my earlier years on Griffin (when Griffin was pea soup). So what the color of these fish tells me is; the bigger one was hanging out in a little deeper water. At least that'd be my guess. The little one actually has some good color, I love the turquoise in the tail.

What’s the consensus of opinion as to water quality if/when the runoff from the lakes connected with the Fort Drum Marsh is diverted to the St Johns as opposed to the Lagoon system via the C54 canal as it is now?
Ive read that is the plan, and have also been told that a new lock on the west end of Stick Marsh is under construction now.

There is a whole lot of ecosystem problems either way. But I think the river system can better handle the discharge than the Lagoon system.
