Well apparently a contract has been awarded for the long awaited ramps docks and parking area of the ten thousand acre lake. It’s been about 10 years in the making, and I didn’t think i would live to see it happen.
Apperently the runoff water for that region will be re routed to empty into the St Johns as opposed to the C54 canal and then the Indian river Lagoon.
That should help the upper reaches of that river also, especially south of Rt 192. Kayakers have been using that lake for quite awhile and doing quite well.

When you consider with the addition of the 10.000 new acres, it will amount to over 26.000 acres of water between Blue Cypress, Garcia, and Stick Marsh/Farm 13. Plus many more acres in the many miles of canals connecting them.
But then consider that Lake Kissimmee alone is over 34.000.
