Ive often wondered why a pc of shrimp or a pc of squid would’nt work to sweeten a jig for Crappie?
Hit the St John's river this weekend and did a little shrimping, we hauled in about 2-3 gal each outing. They're running good currently, mostly mediums, hoping it holds and the high water doesn't push them out. The little ones make good crappie bait too

I catch Crappie, bluegill, catfish, shellcracker, rays, redfish, flounder right around there on shrimp or pieces of shrimp all the time. Right now every fish around there has a belly full of shrimp, This is right out of Dunns Creek on the St Johns south of Palatka
Great report thanks! love the pic of your daughter tossing the throw net out! Talked to buddy CDC member bymo down there as that is what he has been wanting to do. Thanks good information.
Heard reports of them running good in Daytona too, if you like full contact shrimping.
Green Cove Springs area has been real good. I have caught limit both times out at night on friends dock. Hopefully they will be bigger after next full moon. I have caught some huge specks while fishing live shrimp under a dock this time of year.
Nice report, you should send that pic to Slab for the calendar!!
