It is not just in the fishery division, land managers are ruining the forests as well.
Farm 13/Stick Marsh 'Before/After" Photos. Once again, a FL Govt agency (I suspect the St Johns Water Mgt District), has no idea. Just trying to find work, spend budget, and protect a part of their 'empire'. After spraying the place to death to the point there is little vegetation/natural habitat left, now they have started to rip out the natural shoreline growth. These photos show willow trees and close-in reeds destroyed along the west Bank of the Farm (the whole west bank!). Even grade school kids are taught that rooted plants are what holds the earth together and prevents erosion. Plus, natural plant life is habitat for animals/birds and insect life. Yep, I can see the rocks piled to prevent that erosion. So, I just have to ask--- what is gained by destroying the additional protective plant-life? What was in harming? The best fishery in the World is already virtually destroyed by the lack of natural habitat; why keep it up? When those leeves finally DO start to erode, how many millions of tax dollars will have to be spent throwing more rock at them? I guess I just don't understand (but, I sure expect it's called 'make work').
It is not just in the fishery division, land managers are ruining the forests as well.

They need to be planting more along the shores, and as much grass as they can.... plants, grasses, clean the water and provide habitat

Unfortunately many of these of “mismanagement “ episodes take place before taxpayers even know they are going to happen. Likely that is by design. I agree with huntinslabs, I too have seen these type of management decisions take their toll on state-run properties as well.
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.
