Thats news to me. For me and a lot of others...Crappie fishing is a year round sport. And they always taste good to me.
I know most folks go after crappie during the cooler/colder months of the year. My question is why not year round? Do they not taste good after the weather and water warms up?
Thanks.

I catch them year round. Some of my best fishing is June, July, and August here in Virginia.

Chase em all year long, but chase alot of other fish all year long as well. Too many opportunities down here to focus on 1 species. And if I did it would not be Crappie. Likely be Redfish and just have to accept the bycatch of Snook, Trout, Drum, Jacks, Bluefish, Whiting, Sheephead, Mangrove Snapper, and Spanish Mackeral.

I've even heard guys say they turn vegetarian during the warmer months lol.
I still will fish for them some especially on windy days but like huntinslabs said, pretty soon this wind is gonna lay down and the saltwater will start calling my name.
As little as I get to go, I try for them every trip. Only thing I fish for, exclusively, anymore.
Not that I'm exclusive..,..
