Rescue dogs make the best companions. Don't worry Piper will teach your wife well. I had a Jack Russell Terrorist that adopted me a few yrs ago and he never leaves my side.
Those of you that have lost a furry friend know about the hole that has been in my heart for a couple of years since I lost my little dog Tiki. She related to me and few others and I miss her every day. I was sent to relocate a can today and it was to a mobile home park rental. The gent had moved on and left everything behind, and it was going in the dumpster I relocated. I mentioned to the manager how cool the little dog on the corner was and she said something like I didn’t have to go that far. This guys dogs had also been left behind. How do you do that? She said that there was a little dog here that was going to animal control as soon as they got there. To cut to the chase, I sent a pic to the wife and we now have a new fur baby. We call her Piper and she has adapted well already. A trip to the vet on the way home got her caught up on her shots and a clean bill of health. The funny part, she also has stuck to me and seemingly tolerates the wife. I’m sure there will be some work to do while she adjusts but so far , so good. The first pic is Tiki, never to be replaced, and the second is Piper at the vets office before the bath. I’m convinced that it was divine direction that put us together, as I have looked at and passed on many up til now. We seem to be meant for each other. Maybe I just got a new fishing partner.

Good job skeetbum. They truly are man's best friend. Heartbreaking when they pass on but I can't imagine not having one.
