Not really. Plenty of places to fish inshore saltwater or surf fish.
I'll be vacationing in Ormand Beach the week of March 16th. Wondering if there is any place I could shore fish for crappies in the area. Thx ...

Some lakes in the forest west of there on 40 that you might find a fish or two in, but I’m not guaranteeing any crappie. Lookup wildcat lake for starters. Good luck. Remember the bug spray, pants, ankles, etc....
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Don't be deterred. Go over to Tomoka State Park, drive to back and lots of openings around the canals. Pitch your crappie jigs in and you will have a ball with Mangrove snappers, small trout, ladyfish, rat reds, maybe a small snook or flounder. Might not meet legal limits on any but mangrove snapper, but should keep you entertained.

Yup, definitely hit the salt if you're down from a landlocked state.
Tomoka state park rents kayaks too, can probably dig up some fish out of there.
If you go west on 40 to Astor there is a spot you can do some fishing. Just after you go over the St. Johns bridge take the first left on Blackwater, then quick right on Front st. Just as you get to the curve in the road you will see on your left the boat ramp, You can park across the street all day long and fish on and around the dock. Just before you get to the dock you will see Anglers riverside resort. It's a good bait shop if you need any. 1/16 oz roadrunners with twisty tails would be a good start. And as someone said earlier Wildcat is just a few more miles west on 40 but I don't know much about it except it is clear water and the St Johns is black. What do you have to lose?

Central Park in Ormond Beach has some shore fishing spots. Not sure on the crappie population but I know it holds some slab 'gills.
