    Default Talquin Next Week (3/9-16)

I’m getting to take the Ol’ Ranger to Talquin. I’ll be there the 9th through the 16th. I’m bring my 79 year old Dad with me. Hoping to have a good trip for more reasons other than catching fish. Our family has had a rough year. Maybe this trip will do him (and me) some good. Any help you guys can throw my way would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Richard

You should have good weather. I am wanting to go this week but the weather is going to be "Cold" a few nights with a front coming. I have become a fair weather fisherman now that I am retired and I love a good sunny morning with a light breeze. Ha.
If you have not fished this lake before be careful of submerged stumps. I always start show and follow my "bread crumb" trail on the GPS/Recorder. Reports have been good with the specks.
Best of luck to you and dad.

Was good all last week but started slowing down Sunday. This cool weather will knocked them back a couple of days. Females big and FAT and ready to go in the creeks to spawn once the water temp get right. Been best season in years at the Lumber Yard. But be legal. Game Wardens are out in force on the lake this year.

Where is the lumberyard located on Talquin, if you don’t mind saying, my friend and I are planning a couple days trip, maybe the 19th and 20th, first trip there we mostly fish Alabama, thanks in advance for the info.

Some guys refer to Lake Talquin as the "lumberyard"! Due to all the snags. Plan on bringing plenty of hooks. Litewire hooks preferably. I sometimes use 50 plus a day.

Lumberyard is just slogan for the lake that's been around for years. I hope to be there 18- 23 if work will slow down.
