    Default Talquin

Lake Talquin specks should start spawning very soon, we started fishing Tuesday in 61 degree h2o, its up to 72 today (Friday), most fish are staging in creek mouths, but we caught plenty in 10ft water, Also hearing guys are doing well in 2-3fow. Took 15 today pushing minnows with 4- 14ft Southern poles, big females are showing eggs and plump as could be. Sure wish I could stay all weekend, love this lake.Name: 20190222_152158.jpeg

That’s what I’m sayin Howard. It’s not around the corner so a long weekend and an overnight or two is needed for my way of thinking. all the stories about the legendary piggies that live there have my interest. Good Job Tom, some nice fish.

Nice to meet ya in the little cove toward the damn. I was in the white G3. We found fish both in the back of creeks and dead center of the lake over the river channel. Managed 44 Friday and 35 saturday(2 people in boat) All females were full of eggs. Late this afternoon (Saturday) we found fish pitching to the bank. Anything with blue seemed to be the right color.

Oh yes, I remember I guess you cant forget a mug like mine, lol. It sounds like you guys had them dialed in, this is the second year winter fishing Talquin my wife and I didnt catch numbers but the sizes made up for that. You southern guys are lucky to have such good waters, catching 10" whites in the mud puddles of Ohio this Spring will take some getting used to again. We followed the Crappie masters tourney unknowingly from St.Johns to Talquin searching for the throw backs, lol. Im going to have to learn to long line most of the guys I talked to did well that way. Hopefully I will see you all next Feb. Tom

Talquin is on my bucket list. I don't mind the drive. I guess I just haven't made it a priority. Thanks for posting. Have a safe trip home.

We fished Saturday until lunch and did fair. No 2 lbers but a few were pushing that 2 lb mark. Lots of quality coming from Talquin this year. We mainly stayed close to the channel pulling jigs. Going back for 3 days this weekend.
