Highland park fish camp
I fished lake Okeechobee last year, enjoyed it very much, beautiful weather in February, caught some nice crappie, had planned on returning this winter for another week or so, but the reports I’m getting is the lake is down about 3’ and all the grass is gone, so I’ve been looking at another lake, but don’t know of a lunching ramp on it or near it, do any of you guys on here ever fish this lake woodruff and if so, where is the nearest boat lunching ramp that gives access to the lake. And any info on lodging nearby would also be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Highland Park Fish Camp, Tedders (I think that is how it is spelled) or Powell's Fish Camp in Astor. All have No Wake Zones that you have to go thru. The closest would be either Tedders or Highland Park.

If you’re looking for lodging with accommodations for the boat, i think the Astor area would serve you well. Highland park might be able to rent a slip but I don’t think they have any rooms to rent. Woodruff, dexter, and beresford all do well. And don’t forget to troll the river while you’re at it. Enjoy your stay and welcome from Debary.

Highland Park is where I put in. Just go out of their canal and take a right. Highland park has cabins for rent.

yup, the cabins at Highland Park are nice.
We just booked the whole fish camp for a group gathering in May lol.
As mentioned, there are no wake zones all around the area.....you will quickly notice that hardly anyone pays attention to them. Not to say that its right or wrong, but just a fact. It is a long grueling ride out to the lake at minimum wake speeds.

Keep in mind... that long grueling ride out to the lake holds fish, I have done better trollin from Highland Park to the lake than I have on the lake before.
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"Danbo LIKED above postChild of God thanked you for this post
We fished both Woodruff and Dexter last Jan did best in the deepest water (channel) thinking about staying either at Highland or the Deland koa in Feb. I will add we fished these lakes along with lake Griffin in Leesburg and Talquin in Tallahassee and Talquin yeilded thr best size specks

Any of those lakes on the St Johns River can produce some slabs, but those Talquin slabs have that unique football shape.
