I'm new to the area and Panasoffkee is close by. Is this a decent crappie lake?

Fairly shallow with hydrilla beds. My late brother lived on the lake and caught a lot of Bass and bream. Don't remember him speaking of specks much.

I've heard of specks in there but as mentioned it's slap full of hydrilla. Might could fish the holes in vegetation with bobbers or the edges/grasses single poling it. Been a bit since I've been up that way.

Lake Pan is about 30 mins from me. I used to fish Shellcrackers there years ago with a lot of luck. Never tried for specks, though. Let us know how you do, if you give it a go.

fished there with bymo who has a place at the villages. lots of grass, caught pike there, no crappie. talked to some locals there and they had some secret spots and were catching when none were but were not forthcoming on where. shallow lake.

did much better on the canals between the harris lakes. those are easier to fish IMO and we did catch quite a few under lily pads and on visible structure. will be back in february getting after them somewhere there.

I fished Panasofkee back in the 90's when I lived in Brooksville. We mainly fished for bream back then but we did have a few good trips (and a few not so good) with crappie. Nothing over 11-12 inches tho, most were 8-10 inches. Like previously mentioned, lots of hydrilla. Been many years since I have been there.

Just stay out of those little canals that look so interesting . Lots of huge shale rocks that friend my prop down to nothing a few years ago . Couldn't get off the darn rock
