    Default Lake Kissimmee chain

I understand the lakes in this group are very low of water and fishermen in boats having a hard time getting around.

Coming down soon and trying to get it right

These are current reports, no mention of navigational hazards.

At Lake Hatchineha, specks are being caught while drifting minnows around the Hourglass area.

At Lake Toho, bass fishing with live shiners has been excellent during the mornings. The guides are getting 20-25 fish a trip up to five-pounds with an occasional seven to eight-pounder. Speck fishing is good both day and night on jigs tipped with minnows. The bite is picking up from the seawall and piers as well.

At Lake Kissimmee, bass are hanging around the kicker trails and mussel bars. Fish a Carolina Rig worm or a Rat-L-Trap for these fish. Some bass are biting Senkos fished slowly in the lily pads. Specks are biting around North Cove and the east side of Storm Island. Trolling jigs, drifting with minnows, and jigging the brush piles is producing.

Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.

We have 2 inches of rain coming Friday so that oughta help things.

I haven't heard anything about navigation being tough. Can't imagine Kissimmee being a challenge other than maybe a few passages unless the water got wayyyy low.

Friends there tell me that "pig trail " not open , too shallow. Some larger deck and pontoon boats hav gotten stuck and had issues. Looking to learn all that I can before we get there next week, our plans are to ge there for 3 months and go fishing.

I don't know anyone who fishes down that way with any consistency, don't hear much about the KCOL on this forum for one reason or another so I don't know how much info you'll be able to get here.

Might check some of the airboat forums like southern airboat, etc. I know the Pig Trail is typically an airboat trail so I'm not sure what pontoons are doing running it in the first place, it gets clogged with vegetation often and can be sketchy on it's best days.

Can always loop around Sturm island if you want to go up that way, know it adds some miles but it beats spending the night out there.

I fish the Kissimmee Chain, Cypress and Toho mostly. Only 2 places that I have noticed issues is at the ramp in Cypress, water is just over a foot deep in the short run to the lake. The other area can be a motor killer if you do not look out. Going into Lake Cypress from Southport canal bear hard right as soon as you pass the reed line, just beyond that is a sandbar that if not aware of it can jump on you quick. goes from 4 ft deep to less than a foot quicker than you can see the change on a graph.
