Default The Master, a Grasshopper & the River...

!st & foremost THANKS Andy (aka:Crappieday) for the 101 on JIG fishing the river system & spending a relaxing morning OTW in your boat. No mishaps, wild stories, or ordeals of any kind to deal with, just jig w/bobber, vertical jigging & cast jigging, all of which produced specks of all sizes, bream(orange breasted variety included), & a large mouth(Rapala size, all be it, LOL) Andy is so easy going I refer to him as the "cool" instructor everyone wanted in class, back in the day. At one point I asked about rod movement & he smiled & said: "just do what caught you that last fish" I'm still the last person you want in a tournament, to count on as a jigging partner, but have a new appreciation for "THE THUMP" now. As well as the vast opportunities ALL our waters hold for speck fishing, not just trolling the lakes because they are there in good numbers during these winter months. I'm so delighted too have given this jig thing a honest try & have another CC.com member & friend to thank. Maybe now this grasshopper can, "take off the training wheels" as I referred to the bobber/jig fishing & cast jig these type waters more often, when the wind picks up...a few pics from the morning...

Very nice read Speck. You guys are still showing an awful lot of bare arms down there in Florida. What you need is for us northerners to send you a dose of some of what we have up this way.
It is a lot of fun to learn new approaches and techniques for crappie chasin' for sure... and as you said: there are so many approaches and techniques and so little time.
Sounds like a fun day with a good teacher and that's the main thing. Thanks for sharing.

I looked for familiar faces today. It seems they were all cashing in somewhere else. A very good day guys, and a good read and pics. I’ve spent several very good days with members, and Andy was definitely one of them. Now you have to go look at lemon bluff with new eyes. I’ll bet you don’t mind hiding from the wind near as much. Good Job, both of you. You were both in good company.

Nice going guys, yes Jeff I've seen Andy in action casting the shore line in the cannel at Woodruff a few years ago and he was tearing them up. Can't remember how many 2 pound fish he caught but I was amazed. You had one of the best at that style of fishing. I would love to learn some from him one day.
