Default A visit by my local FWC .........

Was out just floating around on my local lake, sitting up front just messing with the new electronics, dialing in, exploring etc.

Than to my surprise I look up to see an FWC officer approaching me.
Well I stand up and start to work toward my anticipated compliance of license, registration etc....... only for him to say.......Nah..... don’t worry about that........but tell me what you think of that new auto chart function on those units?................... we exchanged plesent conversation and he wished me well and started about his continued business of checking the other assorted visible boats.

Before he left I made sure he was aware that I appreciated his continued daily efforts.

I believe he saw me wearing my PFD even while just parked in the boat.

I believe that was all he needed to see that I was with the program.

To me these guys are unspoken hero’s as well.

Wear those PFDs.........they could speak a thousand words.

Most of them are really fine guys. Ran across a pair one day and the old guy proceeded to tell me the type 1 offshore jackets I had aboard were type 3 and that a type 1 was a throwing cushion and my adult jackets were to small. Then he said to cut off the float part behind the neck on my type 1s that he called type 3 like he did and they would be more comfortable. What he didn't know they would no longer be approved by anyone but him. The young officer just sit in the back of their boat and shoot his head he knew better Well they said good by and went on their way. At least he was nice about it and I knew not to say but just look at the tag on the jacket. Don

My agency required that we wore seatbelts even before it became law.... Took awhile to get used to, but after a while it was a natural thing to do....wearing my PFD has become the same way....not professing this become a law just appreciate posts like yours encouraging folks to always wear them.

Majority I have had dealings with are good guys. Only bad Apple I knew of retired years ago and is now running a hunt club in the area.

I agree, PFD’s save lives. More so when they are worn. Good post.
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.

Matter of fact when I was in school I wanted to be a game warden then my older friend explained to me that when it was hunting season I wouldn't be out hunting but would be spending a lot of time in the field. As I went hunting almost everyday after school I seen the light real quick. Besides the pay sucked.

You just never know when you are going to need a life jacket. One day tied to the pier I had to go to the bow and not following the old rule, one hand for the boat, as I walked around the cabin I stepped off the boat. Back then I could swim petty well but had I hit my head on the gunnel it might not have turned out well. Don

    Is he a mayor now?
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
