    Default Crescent and lake stella

Went to Cresent for first time today. I had one dink by island. Got out around noon. Never been to cresent before and never really long lined. I was by the island in about 12 ft going 1 mph with 1/16 jig on with hot grubs. Went to east shore and picked up a 3ft gar it only tangled three of eight lines.

Caster pads up by Dunn creek got one gill

Went to lake Stella with an hour left of daylight I had been there before. Picked up a bass onnwacky worm

Went back to long line and got two small crappie

Really liking the millennium rod holders I got at Astor bait I put spare brackets in front for spider rigging.

A few more days left and back to ice and snow.

Glad you found a few. I went to the river yesterday and found it tough, not many fish. I think that the fronts coming through had them out of sorts. I’m no help up there, only been there 3 times and not in a long time. Hope they cooperate some before you go back.

Thanks for the report. Hope you get into them. Yep, I'm on Griffin, and finding them all scattered. Only catch one here and there, but being Griffin and all, at least I'm catching some! lol

Crescent can be tough but an awesome fishery & beautiful place to experience. Like Jeff said fish deeper....add weights or double jigs
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"

The area north of Bear Island is like a light switch. It is either on or off. We have had many 100 fish days there... and have also been zeroed out. One good thing about it is that you can try the area for a bit and if you don't pick up fish pretty quickly, try somewhere else. That's about the only suggestion i can make to optimize your time on the water there.

If you got there about Noon you were to late. We have found the bite really shuts down around 11am and before that if the sky is clear and the lake is flat calm. Dead lake and the cut between Crescent and Dead lake is my favorite areas. If it wasn't a 60 mile drive I would probably fish no where else for crappies. BTW the ramp on the NE end of dead lake is a great ramp and there is nice docks, RV spots, and a restaurant. The county charges $5 for using the ramp if you are not from that county. Pay at the restaurant. Don
I don't mind sharing where I caught my fish.
Most was caught in their mouth.
