Default George's Lake, found them deep.

For our Wednesday trip this week we went back to George's Lake not to be confused with Lake George as this is a very small but deep lake. Talked to a guy at the ramp that was heading out to fish crappie also and he said they were deep and just off the bottom lately. If he reads this I think him as they sure was. We caught 80 fish and Tom kept 22 that was in the 10 to 11" range. Those seam like the size of the big fish in that lake I think of the hundreds we have caught there this year since we started fishing the place I caught one that went better then 12" Yep fall is here as this is the first time I have seen more then one other boar fishing crappie. Maybe because the canal the ramp is on is not very wide and when you launch there is not a lot of room behind the boat and there is no dock you either have to crawl in over the bow at the ramp of off the high dirt bank. I is cooling off and getting time to head back to Crescent and Dead Lake. It is a 60 mile drive for us so we been prospecting the closer lakes this Summer. Don
I don't mind sharing where I caught my fish.
Most was caught in their mouth.

Don, my sister just moved to the city of Lake Bulter, west of Starke off SR100. She lives near but not on Lake Butler, I took my little boat over this summer & didn't catch anything but it was very hot & the water level was high.

Do you guys ever fish Lake Geneva or Santa Fe Lake near Melrose?

I have never fished Lake Bulter but have fished Santa Fe, mostly Little Santa Fe as my boat was to slow for getting around the big lake. The ramp on the little lake is a good ramp and it is a very short run to the big lake. I have fished bass in the little lake for 35 years and just started fish for crappie in both lakes. Sampson and Alto and also good spots. Don

Thanks for the info, great area with lots of little lakes around. We stopped at the Bald Eagle bait shop in Keystone Heights
but the guy said he just fished private lakes in the area & didn't really know much about the other lakes.

I'm sure I will be checking out some of the others in the area eventually. It's a long way for me to tow without knowing the area,
I'll have to research some boat ramps.

I fished Sante Fe today pre fishing for our club tournament there tomorrow and did very good.
Caught about 40 and had some pretty decent fish.
