    Default Hi, my name is

Up2Specks and I'm a junkie=Fishin' Junkie!! Won't address the number of boats/motors/rods/reels/tackle, fresh & salt/maps, fresh & salt/lure making, molds & paints & hooks & threads/oven/rod building ...well you get the symptoms. I can't seem to get enough of this obsession eg.- travelling/towing to far off(multi state) "hot spots", special knots, special techniques, special colors for certain lakes...this takes the topic to PLASTICS! Salt or Fresh no doubt about it, I have a proclivity about PLASTICS. After joining Crappie.com many years ago ala Chuck Auten and being introduced to Lake Talquin and longline trolling, Chuck introduced me to TnT and crowd. Well that's were the seeds of my plastic propensity were planted. Seems there was a thing with "hot colors" and TnT secretly told me about Wildcat, Bubblegum, Acid rain, Bumblebee etc., Stu touted(now Jeff/me) the Parrot, Curtis w/Bubblegum, Vic w/Monkeymilk. Well the twistertails then led to paddletails, rattails, twintails, splittails, creatures, tubes(hollow & solid) with/without minnows, nibbles, slab sauce, bladed, tandem, litewire hooks, red/gold/black nickle/bronze hooks, aberdeen or sickle, added split shots or larger heads, long/short line, spider rig, push/pull, single pole jig/cast. Oh yeah, add in wind conditions, current speed, water color/temp., cloud cover, boat speed, electronics, lurking eye ballers, 1 rod or 20 there is a mind boggling array of variables than can affect your overall effectiveness. There is definitely a correlation as to the "favored" anglers in any competition. Some individuals have a high degree of competitiveness others enjoy the ambiance, one thing is certain EVERYBODY likes a "secret"! Mine is PLASTIC just like Dustin Hoffman was told in THE GRADUATE many years ago.

You ain’t alone brother. I have dodged the salt water bullet so far but who knows for how long. I left a 30’x36’ garage in TN and have an 8x12 room here. A little crowded. The good part of your story is that you use it. Having seen your pics at least you have some defense for your addiction. I can’t help you out of your predicament but I will wish you luck dealing with it. If you decide you need some more of whatever, look me up first. I could use the space.

    Classic post.... Doug!
Y'all probably don't read each other's profile once you get to know someone.... But I change my occupation probably every two or three months.... to some of the careers I would have liked to try, but none are factual.... That's right I make crappie up.... The one exception is spectacular must keep up....I get a nod from him every once in a while....
CDC is an awesome source for making friends and every once in a while you learn something too.....
    Thanks,
Micah ....also made up....not my real name...

Actually though Crappie fishing cost is pocket change when compared to offshore fishing cost, even when done in a frugal manner.

The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
