The politics of college football will never allow a non major conference team to have its shot...........period.
The four team playoff should only be considered a starting point, and should have progressed to at least 8-12 teams by this point.............NOT........... and why not?.......too much money involved with the good ole boys and their respective bowl games, payouts, and tradition.
Maybe in time when this "Old guard" finally passes through life........... Newer guard might just see if you managed to provide such a playoff format.................... you might just find yourself with a series / game / system that compares to our modern day "Superbowl" event, and all the hype to rival March Madness.
The bowl games mean nothing to me anymore.............no more varying opinions on rankings.............. find a system that allows them to settle it on the field. Expand the playoffs.......yesterday!

Yep, they also gave up 40 to Temple who are 8-4 and 36 to Florida Atlantic who are 5-7. They're a good team against the kind of competition they have but not in the same league as the big boys. They say they want 'Bama, The Tide would eat them alive.

Playing LSU in Fiesta bowl. They should have been ranked 4 to get in playoffs. Dont think they would have faired well but deserved the chance.
