Thanks Danny, I like your easy, simple, cheap build. Was looking to purchasing one more shrimping light but this looks so easy and cheap I think I will build my own.

My son ordered one of those big rectangular nets on a frame that you hang in the current behind the boat. I think it came from down around Cedar hills. It didn't work up here on the Jacksonville area. Well should have known as we had never seen one being used. some one said the new shrimping laws outlawed them so it just hangs in my garage now. My back will not let me castnet anymore and dipping don't work here either. Don
I don't mind sharing where I caught my fish.
Most was caught in their mouth.
I think they are still allowed but they can't be made of monofiliment, something like that , and of course there must be a current flow for em to work properly ...
I really don't keep up wth it, don't use em, never got interested in em etc, etc.
Ha, I've imagined getting a manatee in one = that'd be a night to remember ..LOL ...LOL ........

Them box nets are more trouble than they are worth. Bought one, used twice and left setting at sign above ramp at Oak Hill as a gift for someone. Pain in arse to set and catch everything including shrimp. Beachball size balls of crap in net to get a handfull of shrimp.

In younger days helped my brother setting a try net pulled with a outboard. Let out net with tension to keep doors open at correct angle, pull for 20 min while sorting what you just emptied from net. Time to pull net in again, all by hand. Lots of shrimp but not fun.
Wear your PFD!!!!!
This is the day the Lord hath made, rejoice and be glad in it.
