    Default Wed 9-26-18 Lake Monroe

I often wonder ,when I get to the boat ramp and I'm the first one there, if the others know something that I don't !

That was the case this morning. I got there a little after first light and was the first one in the lot. I decided to run out to the sign line and work it over to the OPP. It was a beautiful morning and I had the lake to my self. I made down to the the plant with out bending a rod. I made two or three rounds with nothing more than seaweed to show for my efforts.

By this time two other boats arrived and set up to work the area. One more pass for me with no luck so I headed out to cleaner water. It proved to be a good move. A rod bent and a nice 12 incher made it into the boat. I did a loop around and picked up a 10 incher ( back she goes ) . Then nothing ...

I pull rods and make a run over to the east end of the lake. I pull into the cove and set up. There is one other boat in the cove but at the other end. I set up and start to make a pass. Two more rods bend but they go back to be caught another day. It's getting hot out and I still don't have a second keeper in the box. I point the bow towards the ramp and plan on trolling my way in. Maybe with some luck I can round out a meal.

Then it happens ..One, two more keepers make it to the box. That's a meal ! I pull rods and head the rest of the way in.

The count for the day was 7 fish in the boat but only 3 got to make the ride home ( 1 12 incher and 2 11 inchers ) .

another good day at the office !

I was there in the black Carolina Skiff. I usually drift with live minnows under bobbers, but when I went to pick up some minnows to drown, the place was closed until next month. I launched anyway and gave it a shot with some artificial I found in the tackle box. Wind was non existent, I wasn't moving much so I gave up pretty fast. I have no confidence in the bait I was using and not having a trolling motor means I depend on the wind to help me find the fish. Looking forward to cooler weather

Clawtooth, elcome from Debary. Blue bass boat with lots of rods.

Glad you found a few, both Jim and John. Always makes the day better. Johns boat is blue and has his name on the side.

As Skeetbum said. I saw the red tracker, but not for long, that was the only boat that I saw close by.
