    Default Wed 9-12-18 Lake Monroe

I had a break in my schedule this morning so I took the opportunity to hit the water. I got to the ramp a little late, around 7:30 but there were only two other trailers in the lot. I launched and headed over to my new secret spot where I caught some last trip out. I wanted to try some different things this morning so I took my time setting up and only put out 6 rods off the back. I was planning to run the big motor with a drift sock to see if it would get me down to the speed that I wanted.

I set out 5 rods before the first rod goes off. In comes a nice 11 incher. It made the slot ! I get all the rods out and start to play with the motor set up when the second rod goes off.. I got that one about half way in before she shakes loose. The next two fish I loose at the boat just before I could get them in the net. Then the big motor dies out. I switch over to the electric motor. the next two fish make it into the boat and the box, both at 11 inches. That's dinner!!

I try to start the big motor with no luck . I start to head in with the electric motor. But the wind starts to pick up. and the fish finder shuts down. and the fish stop biting.

So I start to pull the rods. And that is when I notice that the gas line to the motor is off. Re install the gas line, pump the bulb a few times and we are back up and running.

I was back on the trailer by 11 am with dinner in the box. Not a bad day.

another good day at the office !

Something, I have lost way more fish this year than usual. I just wrote it up to being rusty.

Haven’t been enough to lose many. Glad to hear your motor issue wasn’t any worse. A good trip overall.

Always good to be able to wet a line in the "Lucky Spot" & find there're still biting....sounded like an adventure, but as they say, all's well that ends well....

I know the feeling! I think the fuel line came undone when I was working with the drift sock. When the motor quit I thought that it was just stalled out because of the slow idle. I started to worry when it did not restart. But decided to troll back to the ramp and then work on the motor. It all worked out in the end.

another good day at the office !

Tuesday the bite was very light. Those guys were stealing my minnows, and I never saw the rod wiggle.
