Thread: New to me Boat...

It's got everything I woulda put on a boat like this, Jack Plate, Talon, Riptide Terrova.......It's got a 90hp Yamaha too. The only thing I woulda wanted otherwise woulda been a 4 stroke, but from what I've read, this 90hp two stroke is weighted correctly for the boat. A 90hp four stroke wouda weighed too much, and I wouda got me feets wet more often! doh

And yep, Stik kept her in good shape. I've been pleasantly surprised.

I don't know about there, but that 2 stroke 90 yamaha is a highly desirable motor in south Louisiana. Nice boat Ed.

Sweet ride !! Looks to be in very good condition but way too clean, needs some speck slime on it.

I have the same boat but mines a little older, 03 with still less than 250 hrs on the same great engine.
Its claimed to be the most popular boat in the Key West lineup.
Rock solid all round outfit for what you are looking to do. Mines been to the keys for reef/bay fishing, and spring Tarpon under the bridges. My bow rail extends further front than yours which allows for clamping the Driftmasters to that. But ive also used the regular star type bases for some. I bought a Fishmaster casting platform for the front and use it for a seat up there and it also supports my beach umbrella. I like the Bimmini, but its always in the way so I remove it when Crappie fishing. Also aced the backrest on the helm cooler seat for the same reason. I use the factory rod holders in the gunnels along with removable Penn downrigger bases inserted into them for attaching the stern rod holders. That way I can remove them and store them in the bow storage area. A decent fabricator could make them as good or better and probably cheaper. I also removed the backrest cushion on the front of the console and installed a hinged door that folds down. I put a shelf in there which holds lots of tackle and more importantly gives great access to the fuses and wiring which otherwise are practicly inaccessible. Also makes it easy to install electronics.
I installed a water tight hinged hatch in the stern deck area so I can get my arms down in the bilge to work on the pumps also.
I also removed the anchor from the bow anchor storage area and use that for a small ammo box holding a gel cell battery and small charger for my bow fish finder. I suppose you could also tap into the trolling motor wire but I chose not to and have found this system to work very well. I store a small anchor and also have a locally made 10' Stick It anchor pin on board. If you go to the keys you will need a rock anchor with a ball retrieving system and about 200' of line which wont fit in there anyway. You will need a different set up yet again for Tarpon fishing down there.
