I have fish Georges Lake on and off for the past 3 years. I have never caught anything over 11". But they are healthy. Looking forward to fishing Orange and Lochloosa this year.

To_m and I did petty good yesterday on George's Lake. Only the second time we ever fished it but it is quickly moving up on my list of lakes I like. We caught over 30 crappies and most all of them looked like they were made with a 10" cookie cutter. They were all fat and thick in the shoulders but I am a little worried that maybe the lake doesn't have a lot of big fish. It is a small lake with two areas with 24 fow and great contour lines plus no weeds out in the lake. We pushed jigs at 1 mph and white twister tails and blue and white tube seamed to be what they wanted. We started shortly after sun up and fished to 11 but it just got to hot when the breeze died down. Seams like the bite always slows way down around lunch time anyway. We were seeing fish on the Garmin they were just not feeding. Well at least not on what we were offering them. It was still a nice day on the water and To_m took home around 10 nice fish for his family. I never keep any my girlfriend doesn't think we should be eating fried fish and that was how I was raise to eat them. Even fried them in lard back when I was a kid.
Has anyone else had any experience with George's lake? I would like to think my 3 pounder is in there. Don

I have caught a 2.99 pounder on Lake Woodruff
We used to fish Lochloosa hard once once a week for the first 2 years we fished crappie in Florida. Loch has a lot of smaller fish but there are some nice ones also. We quit fishing it when the water got to low years ago for my 22' bay boat, Red Alert. We started fishing Orange for the first time this year when we got back into crappie fishing. We have done petty well there for numbers and size but T_om found George's Lake that is much closer so we are hoping it works out. I would rather fish Dead Lake and Crescent but it is a long drive for us. Don
Nice fish I would of had to put her in the livewell and fed her a dozen minnows to get that last .01 if it was a tournament or had my scale checked to see if it was weighing light.
A small lake that is not fished hard sometimes doesn't produce many large fish. I don't know about these we will keep fishing them as T_om said they were nice fillets. Don
I have fished George's lake 3 times over the last year and never caught a speck over 10.5. I caught a 100 the first time I went. I think it doesn't get enough fish removed and they are overpopulated or maybe I just didn't find the big ones.

Keep more of them and the others will get bigger.

That is what I am thinking but then I don't keep fish but I would if I had someone that wanted them. Will keep looking for the bigger ones till it is time to fish the good lakes again. Don
Good report. When the bite slows down, downsize the bait and slow down the presentation. Has worked for me.
