Epic morning fishing. First spot nada. 2nd time I hit spotlock we never moved. Went through 3 dozen large shrimp in hour and half. Hooked a Tarpon but broke him off. 3 unidentified fish I couldn't turn and never saw broke off. I guess I brought a knife to a gunfight kinda deal. 15lb braid and 20lb flourocarbon was no match
Released 5 snook a trout a sheephead 4 jacks and a pile of small mangroves. Broke a rod on one of em. We had a blast. Sorry no pics of fish. It was fast and furious. Anyone wanting Tarpon, Edgewater backcountry is loaded with em. Just bring some stout tackle, trout/redfish tackle is no match.

Sounds like a blast! Wish I was down there...
I wonder if it's all the rain that has the Tarpon in there or if they are around every year, anyway sounds like you had a good trip Mike.....................
Not sure if it is rain or crappy water down south pushing them up or what. I know they are there, but never seen as many before as there was Saturday. They were literally everywhere. ICW, river, Browns Bay, even that 1 little tiny creek I fish had em in there. Snook are thick as well. I know for sure 1 tarpon I hooked as I saw him roll, never saw the others, headed straight into Mangroves, usually Snook and reds play that game.
