meterology was my major my first two years in college. i learning lightning can strike up to 15 miles ahead of a storm. i always watch radar before going out, and during my time out. any thunder, i leave immediately. the following article disusses the dangers. https://www.weather.gov/media/gid/lightning.pdf
pescador thanked you for this post
i was a meteorology student my first two years in college. i have been a boater and fisherman my whole life. lightening can occur 15 to 25 miles ahead of a storm without the warning of thunder nor of any rain. i see too many boaters waiting on the water too long when storms approach. https://www.weather.gov/media/gid/lightning.pdf
