getting them to bite is the name of the game always. I am trying my luck on the St Johns with a little bit of success. I got two yesterday throwing spoons.
another good day at the office !
I fish the St. Johns in early March. I stay in Astor. When I have gone up to Lake George there is a spot right at the southern end of the lake ware the river channel meets it. They call it the cow pen, It was for the old barge traffic. I know they fish for them there. If you went north out of Astor to Lake George you could not miss it.

JC, if you ever do try for them there try to find some small eels for bait. I've heard some good reports on that bait in that area.

A couple of weeks ago, while I was buying minnows, a couple of gentleman were buying small shiners. They said they were going to Deep Creek (just north of Harney) to fish for Stripers. The way they talked, it sounded like they go there often.

I've caught them schooling on Lake George just out from Silver Glenn Springs. Tons of fun.

I run into them every so often. We fish down by Lake Monroe, and the Wekiva River. A couple of years ago ( 2 yr I think) My wife and I got into some at the mouth of the river. We both caught our limit in less than 3 hours. It was a fun day. I have been looking for them ever since. We have been back to that spot several times and have had limited success . I keep hearing about them but it seems that finding them is a bit of a challenge.
another good day at the office !
