There's Essex Restaurant and there's Blackwater Inn Restaurant right at the SR40 bridge. My friend who lives on the river in Astor says the water is still high and the current is strong. He says his last trip on Lake Dexter, across from Powell's Fish Camp, they caught 18 specks. They used only jigs, no minnows, the trolling motor at a good speed, and fished out in the middle.

I was there on Tuesday and caught 10 fish all day. It got very windy. Fished Woodruff and the river but didn't fish Dexter. The fishing should get better. I think we chose the wrong day. Hope you have a good trip!

wrong day........there's no such thing as a wrong day to fish....... I know what you mean about the wind making it difficult !!
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
