    Default Kenansville - Lake Marian

I am heading to lake Marian March 2 - 5. I have never fished this lake. Any information or advise would be greatly appreciated.

Great launch park off Lakeside Blvd.
Nice little lake, not real deep even for Florida.
Did well pushing minnows ....... good population but not many brutes.
Anything from mid lake west seemed the most productive.

A lot of good lakes in your area, you should have some fun.
As long as your down the road / Canoe Creek, you should check out Alligator lake and it’s connected lakes if your looking for something different and possibly productive.

Hope ya have a great trip!

Was there twice, nice fish camp with camping and cabins, docking for boats. Lake is surrounded on all sides by cattle ranches and a
wildlife area. Good public ramp very close, but fish camp ramp wasent operable last year. Rated very high for Crappie numbers.
Lake maps at fish camp store, id be prepared for trolling as the lake would work for that also. The map will show some deeper water.
Lots of shoreline vegetation also, especially to the north of the camp. Nice population of white pelicans also, and of coarse gators.
Lake Jackson, a small very remote lake is fairly close also. Take all the food and other supplies with you as there is nothing in the area. Kenansville has a feed store and nothing else, and even that is about 5 miles away.
There is a nice little village of homes you will pass thru surrounding the fish camp and boat ramp.
Don't count on getting much fishing information at the camp store, so observe as you go, and be talking to as many of the locals and other fishermen as you can.

I have good memories of this lake. Years ago I took my young son over to scout and fish. Because of my son a local came over and gave us specific directions to some lily pads over on the northeast side. There was a big Bream bed there. We had a ball catching and releasing fish. We kept about 10 to eat. On another trip we were fishing and a fellow starting waving his hands at us and I thought he was telling me that we were crowding him along a shoreline so I veered hard left so as not to mess up his area. Later saw him at the ramp and he was quite animated saying, "I was trying to get you to come over where I was so that boy could catch some fish." He said the fish were biting like crazy.
Bream and Shellcracker are plentiful and I read that at one time it has the highest population of Crappie (based on size of the lake) in Florida. Lots of small to medium size when we went.
