What elkhunter said WILL work, but u have to hold it down till it gives up. That's how you become the alpha on a lot of dog species. I raise German shepherds and that's what I do to all of them. Works wonders. Seems cruel but it works. These shepherds make quite a scene sometimes when I do it.

I'll 3rd or 4th the on the back routine, have had several adopted dogs,
Chessy, mutt, and most recent a Border Collie has worked extremely well
for all ... so far. The chessy and the border collie are both known to be
team players they just need to remember who the coach is.

Mom and daughter are here at my house riding out Irma. The biter is here too but he's relegated to puppy jail. He don't get along with me, and he don't seem to get along with abbey either.
