No matter the brand, I look for medium or medium light power/action. You probably know but it's the small writing stamped on the rod just above the handle. You detect the bite before the fish detect the rod.
Hey, get rid of the bass fishing equipment and switch to only CRAPPIE FISHING! LOL. I hope this helps ya.

I'll be working on the later part of that and plan to do a lot more crappie fishing once I get retired. Thanks for all the input from everyone - this is a great site. Hope to be fishing with you guys one day!

Your working with a small boat (your picture) - Spider rigging vs Long-ling will make somewhat in length of rod to be used
    -
Another haul would be to go to Lake Wales to Bridgemasters, they have
exvellant rod selection and pretty reasonable on prices. They also run specials
from time to time. If our in market to purchase 8 for spider rigging they will make
package deals - Tell them Harold with FCC sent you.
I use Deep-South rods - aren't made anymore - lots of guys use Wally Marshall
Signatue Series. Can get reasnable good deals through Grizzly Jig Com -they
have catalog you can get, call them 800 305-9866

Harold glad to see you are feeling well enough to post. On the width of the boat part of it is my fat ass in the way but most of it is the fact it is a 1976 Ranger(the one they use to cut in half on the commercials to show it would still float) my buddy bought for $2500 about 5 years ago. 85 Javelin outboard sill runs like a champ. I am trying to convince him to do more spec fishing. I grew up drifting minners with my Papa out in the bombing range on Lake George. He has never done it, only bass fishing. I'm getting closer to converting him. When I get my boat an set it up for fishing he'll go and I know he will love it. No doubt, the best eating fish that swims. Thanks for heads up on the rods. I will make the trip to check it out. I get all the catalogues. I have a file folder I save all this good knowledge. I have your description of how to set up a spider rig saved. Thanks an get well soon.
