I honestly have not fished Medard ever since they lowered it to repair the dam - That would have been appox 7-8 yrs.
I didn't lie after FWC took it over from County -(Wouldn't let me take pictures of pit prior to filling) and let it go kinda wild - Buzzards not under control (they will eat anything that is black and rubbery ie: wiper blades - molding around windows etc) Also they attached fees - $100.00 yr sticker, $100.00 boat launch & $100.00 night fishing fee. I have heard the Strippers have really taken it over - make sure you have
rods in their holders or they will be gone..
Personaly i fish Tarpon Lake -Lake Tarpon off Hwy 19.

Florida Crappie Club has forum on this forum - they do 20 tournaments a year -
I retired as VP last Dec 31st - 10 yrs on tournament trail was enough for a while - They are good club.

I have seen bait boats, beer boats and ice cream boats, never seen a floating stripper palace.

Tarpon house would be great. Big bass in there also. If I lived on the water I would feed fish every day and catch my own wild shiners. Big bass love wild shiners. Walden Lake in Plant City is very good but you have to live there to use the ramp. Teneroc is a lot of phosphate pits controlled by FWC. Sometimes very good. 10 inch and 10 fish limit per person. Most lakes are trolling motor only. Others are idle only. Careful you can get lost in that place.

A couple of weeks ago, had a fella tell me "a blind man could catch crappie on Lake Tarpon". Sounds like the place to start.
My grand-daughter calls me "Crappie Grand Pappy"
