    Default I am so mad ! ! ! ! ! ! !

I, as usual, got a request to dnld/install an update to java from Oracle (I thought they were Sun Microsystems or something like that)) .....
    It froze my computer up ! ! ! ! ! !
I tried every way up and down to "restore to an earlier point" = just couldn't do it.
I did find a deal that said "restore your computer to an earlier time" but, it didn't
do nothin but " attempt to repair" = it couldn't do Jack, so I finally put in my "RESCUE" discs,
All that did was to format my partition and put in my original OS ! ! !
So, now I got to contact McGafee and get my virus crap going again, and hopefully,
get my music converter back, and God knows what else I got to do ! ! !
My banking program (Quicken) is gone, got to get that back going ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
And, just no telling what else I'm missing, fortunately I did do a backup (copy)
to my external disc day before yesterday, of my pics and such......
Then after all that, I click on something that gets me on the internet (MS internet Explorer),
they give me the option to accept "Bing" toolbar (I like Google) = I say no tx's, it switches me
back to another option that I don't want, then, it switches me back to the original "Bing option" =
hopeless loop = I have no choice but to accept = to access internet ! ! ! !
    I know I can change it later, "BUT" ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
    Man alive, am going to send Oracle a mean letter ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
I'm so mad, my wife asked me why all that smoke was coming off me ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

I hate that for you. We got a ICE virus last night that almost _______ (you fill in the blank) everything we have up. Luckily wife clicked on some restore stuff and McAfee stuff and a little help from Google on her phone and stopped what could have been a similar nightmare. Dang cyber punks

I have been there and done that. I now back up my files, mainly my Chuck file. There are programs that will back all your computer to seperate hard drive you plug into your usb port. My program is Acronis. I backs up my files once a week and if I loose my computer, I have two ways, restore and external hard drive. I restore is coruppted the the external will work. Still takes some work.

Also, when you add a program, save it, don't just run it. Also, keep a copy of your registration, will save you a lot of time.

    Good luck.

Tx's Chuck = I "copy" stuff to my external HD (and keep it unplugged when not using), but when I got to start over with virgin OS = I got to re-install all these drivers, programs, still got to
get with McGafee and get virus protection back, Photoshop, Music file converter, I-tunes, the list just goes on and on ........
Have been at this re-building all morning.
What really ticked me off, is that I couldn't find a way to "restore to an earlier time" option = would've solved everything.
I couldn't get to it through "safe start", went through F-12 it said it would restore to earlier time, but, it tried to "repair', then,
wouldn't give any option to go to earlier time, finally I pulled out my "rescue" disc = formatted HD and re-installed OS.
So, am sitting here re-building everything ......................................
And, never backed up my bookmarks (too complicated/aggravating) so, lost tons of U-tube videos and other things .......
    But, am recovering .................

Got my lower unit back yesterday, sitting on back porch, will start putting it back on motor today
when I get this computer back in order, etc, etc, etc .....
    Have a nice day,
    Danny

Sounds like you are in between and rock and a hard place. Computer and lower unit. Sucks. Good luck on your goals. Fall is just around the corner. Five months to to and the slabfest at Talquin will be upon us. Sharpen your hooks, oh by the way, you can't hook a rope on the back of lightwire hookers boat.

Each time i let one of my grandkids 'play' on this machine it seems that at least two hours are required to get things back to 'normal'. So i call it grandkiditis, was fortunate the last time to go back 4 days and restore everything as it was. Good luck with the foot.--shu
