    Default Whose Fish is it?

This a story from long ago and in Canada. Went on a family walleye fishing trip one Spring to Canada north of MN. At one point, we stopped to fish an emerging weed bed. My brother hooked a minnow on a bobber rig and promptly had a good bite. My brother set the hook and realized he had a big walleye on. Unfortunately the walleye broke his line and we all were disappointed for him. The next day we were fishing about 1/3 mile from the emerging weed bed. We were dragging the bottom with minnows on slip sinker rigs and I had a good bite. I set the hook and realized it was a decent fish. As I got the fish closer to the boat we could see that my hook had snagged the bobber from my brother's broken line. Luckily the snag held and we landed the 6-7# walleye. What are the odds? And whose fish is it??

I say you caught it... his line broke. What if another angler you didn't know had broken off first. Would it have been theirs?

While fishing on the pier on Dauphin Island. The big bruiser redfish would come through and start taking baits and cutting lines off on the barnacles. When they finally got landed they would have several hooks in their mouths. Sometimes you would know you had it hooked for a while by the hooks and line that was hanging out of it's mouth
