Shore based fishermen chucking lead at others isnt a very rare thing.
Here in Florida many of the inlets have rock jettys on both sides to protect from erosion.
Some even have concrete platforms on them for anglers.
At certain times highly sought after species like Snook will congregate along those jettys.
Of corse the shore bound anglers feel boaters can fish anywhere, so stay away because these are our fish.
And 5 or 6 ounces of lead can be sent a long way to drive that point home.
Fact is however that it takes a certain type person who would purposely attempt to injure someone or worse over a fish.

I do understand both sides of that particular circumstance. It is not worth being hurt on either end of it. The old timers had a code. If you were in a spot first it was yours until you left it. No matter if you were on the bank or in a boat. You were fishing that spot of water.

Hitting them wasn't the point. It was to mainly let them know they were coming to close since only about half of us was out f the water and we were not able to get out of their way. I am a firm believer that jet skiers should not be allowed to operate within 100 feet of any shoreline. They should have to go straight out and then either go to open water are stay away from the shore.

I do realize a lot of the threads here are older (so am I , LOL) but being new here I like to read and get to know the folk. I have been off the water for several years but I have recently returned to my most favorite pastime. As A child my grandfather who was an avid fisherman, as was my dad, taught me the ways of the water and boating. Not as many pleasure boats then but making sure not to disturb someone fishing was a golden rule. Even in my little tinny when passing someone fishing I slow down and pass as far away as possible. I have ridden some rough water of late and it is not a fun way to spend my time. I am so happy to see that I am not alone. I am finding this forum to be a pleasure to be a part of.

It can get rough out there at times. I use the wake boats as a timer to know when to head back and load the boat up

Default The Thread is Old but the Message is Timeless

Ignorance Knows No Season. I would remind everyone that a time/date-stamped video and/or sequential photographs (complete with hull numbers) of any "clear" "on the water safety violations" can easily constitute prima facie evidence, such that it could easily warrant the violator a visit and/or a ticket from the DNR in most any state... if you simply send it to them. I have known a few game wardens and many sheriffs, (who also have jurisdiction (over some lakes)); and there's nothing that makes them any happier than to open a case, write tickets, and even appear in court, where the evidence is crystal clear on its face to support a "careless and reckless" safety violation on the water. Don't you guys watch Lone Star Law???

I do not watch that show but I should probably start. Coming into the launches here in town is close to a 300 yard no wake zone. A fella could set there and record all the video he wished to record. A mile back toward the river is a 200 yard shore to shore no wake zone at the marina and fuel dock. The bass guys will hug the other bank and never slow down. TWRA guy in his boat the marina. I was shooting the pontoon next to him. I hollered boy he isn't gona slow down. The TWRA guy says nope they never do. Made him mad when I asked if he thought about writing any tickets.

I watched my buddy catch a sail boat on a muskie size jitterbug. It fought hard but he got it in. Had to release it since it wouldn't fit in the live well. I think it needed its dorsal fin taped up considerably.Wake boat vigilante
