Great video. We did similar things as teenagers. Simply because it wasn't fit to treat a fly rod in such a manner. We used the larva from a wasp nest as bait. A little hook , no weight, a small Styrofoam toothpick float. Those were right fun times in them days. That second hand rod and reel I got at a princely sum of 5 dollars. That rod and combo was an 8 wt but it got the job done. It caught fish and that was it's Job. It did it's job well. Thank you for bringing back that memory back to me

My was taught to roll cast a cricket under a small float as introduction to fly fishing . Then casting a black gnat or ant become the thing . Fly fishing in the "south " seems to differ from the "North " . Name: Video 41 0 00 00-01 (2).jpg

Fishing red wigglers on a fly rod for trout has a long history. I don't think it's as popular as it once was, though.

That's just how my dad used to do it. Roll casting work best, but these stinking graphite rods with weight forward lines are horrible roll casters. Gotta get a fiberglass rod and some double tapper fly-line.
