Good memories!
My dad was never Fishermen,he was legend in the deer hunting circle though, folks always said my dad could kill a deer even if there weren't any.We were blessed to own a nice farm pond, and had a river nearby to fish in,and me and my brothers fished a lot.
Dad was big on camping,so every year we would find a spot along some creek and set up camp,( back in the good old days you could do this ), nobody cared as long as you kept things clean.
As on all our camp outs,me and my brothers fished and played in the water all day, what a life! One particular day,we could not catch a fish, toward evening, and still having caught nothing,my dad walks down to the creek, takes my pole, gives it a cast, and catches a huge smallmouth bass.
Dad hands the pole back to me and says " that's how you catch a fish boys". To my knowledge that bass was the only fish my dad ever caught in his adult life.My dad is no longer with us,though we spent many years hunting together,I will always remember seeing my dad catch that small mouth.

Good memories!
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
Thanks for sharing that story.
We all got this gene from somewhere. Sure is good when it's your dad . Brings back memories of running lines on the Tombigbee River with my dad . Thanks .

Oh he is with you for sure.
Great story and memory...thanks for sharing.
Yes, as a matter of fact, I do have a retirement plan...FISHING!
You are lucky that you were able to hunt and camp with your Dad. None of my family hunted or fished, so I had to learn it all on my own.
