During One of my last crappie trips before I injured my hand,I eased my kayak into some flooded timber that was packed with washed up logs, and debris.Several broken pallets( skids as we call them) had accumulated amongst the debris.
The pile of junk was to thick to get a minnow on a slip through, but for the openings in the skids.I could carefully drop the minnow through the slats, often resting the float on the boards themselves.
I don't recall how many crappie I pulled up through the skids, but we had a couple three nice meals out of them. Most were caught at about 20'OW,and it took some maneuvering to bring them through the skids.Several other fellows had fished past this spot, but obviously decided it wasn't fishable.......lucky me!
