    Cool funniest things caught

My son was reading about some of the funniest things caught and reminded me of the time we lived in Muscatine Iowa and was fishing a sand pit from the shore. I was fishing for crappie or gills and upon one cast felt a solid tug on my line. Looked around and there was my five year old son caught by the lip on the end of my line. I was panicked!! Luckily my parents from Ohio were visiting and had come along. My mother calmly removed the hook and all was well. She was a very experienced hook remover from raising five kids on a lake.

Default My first date with my wife

My wife had a resort membership at Lake Erie, for our first date we went to the resort. I cant go near a lake without geting the fever so i snuck a little fishing gear in the trunk.I dont think my wife was planing for us to go fishing since they have a nice pool, sauna hot tub n such.We got to the resort and i promptly whip my pole from the trunk and head for the bank, she had that suprised look on her face but followed me to the bank. I had a crank bait allready rigged, made my first cast and had a big hit i'm fighting and cranking i holler at her to go get the net i had left in the trunk she promply fetches the net im still fighting when she gets back i nearly have it in. pole in one hand net in the other i bend down and net my fish, to my suprise its not a fish i had caught but a huge log. boy did i look cool i musta made a good impression though.

I caught a rock once while fishing from a charter boat. It had lot's of holes in it, and the hook got into one of the holes. Also remember my ex wife catching a starfish on that trip. Guess that means we were fishing a little too deep...
    I have a jig with a face like this!

While fishing in college, my roommate caught a rock about the size of a half-dollar with a small hole in it. I don't know what he did with it over the years, but he used to carry it in his flyvest when we went flyfishing.

When I was stationed in New London, CT a buddy of mine and I would go down to the piers at night and fish for stripers. Well, one night he hooked into something and was having a heck of a time getting it in. After about 5 minutes, here came a nice 2.5 pound lobster.

Another one I heard of was the a couple of guys fishing and one of them caught a shark.

When I was younger, we would fish the Gulf of Mexico on occasion with my Dad, and this particular time we were fishing for Black Drum. We had caught a couple. (for those not familiar with this fish, they can get huge, where we were fishing they averaged from 25 to 60 pounds) The fish are so big that Dad would filet them while on the water and put the filets in the ice chest and return the rest to the water. After a few minutes one of the big reels started ratcheting, Dad picked it up and let it ratchet a few more times, flipped the ratchet off and set the hook. The fight was on again, after a few minutes he got it to the boat only to find he had caught the skeleton of the previous one that he had caught.
You can't fish with a hung line!
