Are you measuring the voltage with the meter set for DC? Are you batteries hooked up properly? Should be in series.
My Dad bought a motorguide brute 6700 series 24 volt trolling motor. I can get it to run off of one battery but not two? I wired it for straight 24 volt because it says 24 volt on top of the motor. Any ideas, I checked and am getting like 42 volts at the plug when I hook them together and 32 when only one battery is hooked up - seems like a lot to me?

Think of the 24 volt configuration as sticking 2 D batteries in a flashlight. same concept. CF

No I was checking it with ac, thanks, - but still it won't work with the two batteries like it should, any ideas?
Have you checked to make sure the switch on the TM is set to 24 volt not 12 volt? I know most motors have a switch (usually on the bottom of the head) that can run it on 12 v or 24 volt.
IBNFSHN, do you have a diagram of a 36 volt setup? My father-in-law has a 36 volt TM but we have took the battery setup down and don't remember how it hooks up. Thanks in advance.
