Default Nothing bad to say about Humminbird, but

I aint turned it on lately.

Hoping to fire it up and take some shots this coming week. High winds are predicted, so I want get too many pics.

Any suggestions for the best pics in high winds, say 10-15 knots? SI don't look good in waves. I ain't the best operator either.

    Thanks,

    Tom

put your butt to the wind and catch a wave. Only way I've found to do it in high wind and see what's there.

Try to catch fish and take pics at home, before you eat them.

I would think your only concern is the bouncing of the boat like shaking of a camera. Go with the wind, you may wanna back troll enough to ride the same waves. Also take pictures from shore(where protected from wind) & shoot out to your areas. To get points of a bay go in the bay(less waves?) and shoot out to the points. I normally start shooting 100 ranges then go closer if something looks good, which you could save for a calmer day. Of course if water is so dirty with leaves, branches, foreign stuff like a raging river then nothing gonna work. Also question to U, I use a ExtremeIII sandisk SD card, very fast card does this help. Pict done in 1,2,3. Bam-- Does fast card help in time take the pict or just in the time to save to card????????

Tom best way is get behind a boat that is breaking the waves for you. Then it will cut down on the waves for you some that way.
But I get good shots with mine if I am going into the waves as long as it at a idle. I have found some great fishing spots in 3ft waves when I had to idle back to the boat ramp that was 7 miles away.

That choppy water can fool you for sure. In 1997 my son and I were running from a storm on Lake Lewis Smith in Cullman Al. The waves were rough and a Bullet Bass Boat is not built for rough water. We made a right turn and hooked a wave and upside down we went. Thank god for PFD's. It scared the crap out of me. Mostly because of my boy. Some gals in a ski boat picked us up and that evening we were able to retrieve the Bullet. That was my last trip in that boat!
