Default helix and humminbirdpc with windows

The question I have is are there any special reason why humminbirdpc must use windows operating system to run and upload, and down load waypoints, and etc.I use linux os and used it for a long time and hate the windows os. I got a helix and updated the software using llinux by formating the sd card with fat32 then down loaded the software and the humminbird basemap update and was able to install it to my humminbird.Has any one else done this and how did it turn out. I am at the stage of using google earth pro and humminbirdpc to upload and down load waypoints from the AGFC website and convert those waypoints to the format that helix will accept them.is any one at that point yet this is a new ball game for me.I was around when ther was only one pay phone in town and our phone line was a party line.

Humminbird PC will only run on a windows platform ...

Some other operating systems (like Mac) can use a “windows parallel” program that operates windows software on another platform ...

You are right but what if the only computer you have has linux on it.which thats all I have and the way I did this (if you try this then your on your own)was that I used a program called wine to allow humminbirdpc to run under that enviroment.and I was able to upload and down load to my helix from humminbird PC within wine on linix. Im trying to upload waypoints that were saved in helix to googleearth pro but Im having issues with the depths that are saved, and cant figer out how google earth pro accepts the data. From what I think is happening is googleearth pro does not reconize the depth data....
