Thanks so much for taking a look at that, I sincerely appreciate it as a guy whose knowledge of the electrical side of the house is pretty rudimentary. Since my two batteries are still functional after several dozen charging cycles with that charger configured as shown, I think I'll keep using it that way until something breaks, as the batteries are pretty cheap and seem to work alright this way. Unless anyone has any better ideas!
