I'd think so too.
Them's fish that are on FIRE (gain @ 70% ... really ??)
What I want to know is .... how did you get that directional icon on the screen ?? It looks somewhat similar to the one that shows up onscreen when using Perspective Mode.
Friends unit on his boat. Coach me CrappiePappy. I'm gathering that 70% gain is too hot. What should it be set on? Are you saying there is no fish? A little thrown back by the whole statement.

Looks like small fish to me. Would help to see depth and distance to help judge size better.

Set on auto depth reading a little less than 14ft deep. Most of the time the rang is set to 60 ft.

The newer updates past 18 pretty much make you run a higher gain rate since the software gain rate has been diluted some. They're also automatically internally adjusted with the newer updates to an extent when you drop back to 30 or 40 feet. A good way to check is find a good target at 50 feet. Bring that target in to the 30 feet range and then bring your range to 30 and watch the sensitivity automatically fall off to where you can barely see your target then or not at all. Its very frustrating when chasing roaming fish. I always try the latest update when it comes out, but always go back to the series 18 version just because of this auto adjust gain issue.
I think 70% is too hot, but that's just my opinion & I'm no expert on Livescope settings. I can't remember what my gain is set on. I didn't use my boat the last 7-8 months of last year. I did have it set "hot" (like your buddy's) but dialed it down.
No, those "fireballs" on the screen are definitely fish ... I was just saying they "looked like they were on fire" because of the high gain setting (and the palette color).
