    Default Lowrance went dead today

I have a Gen3/12 inch unit and today while fishing I turned around and looked at it and the screen was black. First thing I thought was fuse popped but I was fixing to come home and thought I would check it then.
I have the same unit in the 9 inch version so when I got home I plugged it up to the same power cord as my 12 inch unit and it came right on and worked as it should so that told me it wasn’t a power issue.
I can’t get the 12 inch unit to do anything. If I could get it to boot up I would do a hard reset but it just seems to be dead and won’t do anything.
    It’s out of warranty.
    Any thoughts?

I could be wrong! but doesn't a 12" draw more amps than a 10"? if so check the battery, it could be getting weak.

Go ahead and try the hard reset, nothing to lose.

The 12 inch is wired straight to my cranking battery that cranks a 150 4 stroke so I don’t think it’s the battery.

The reset itself turns it on, worth a shot. If it doesn't come on, ???

What was the voltage on the 9 with the screen brightness on max when you plugged it in the 12s spot? From many years of boat and ice fishing Lowrance's shut off at around 10.5 volts (volts pulled up on the screen) if the nine shows low age voltage with screen on bright, the 12 might not start. I'd check wire connections and the battery, my big motor will still start fine right before my Lowrance's shut off.

Are you sure it didn't get put into dark/night mode by accident? Plug it back in and power it up like normal. You won't be able to see it on, but give it normal time it takes to boot up. Once you've waited ample time press the power button quickly a few times. If it is in dark/night mode the screen should lighten back up. Hope this is your problem and it helps you out.

Unfortunately I think it’s dead. I have talked to a couple people about it including Lowrance and everybody has the same thoughts.I’m going to check voltage tomorrow. I know it’s not in dark/light mode because I was standing at the back of the boat (not touching it)looking at it while longlining and it was working fine and then just went black. I can’t even see the backlights behind the control buttons light up when I try to power it up.

Was hoping it was something simple. Sorry it didn't help you out.
