I still have the crappy stock speakers and use them. I have tinnitus and need background noise. Somedays mother nature provides, others I need the stereo. I plan on adding a amp and 4 decent speakers. Nothing like the wake boarders. but better than factory.
In your situation, run what you got. When it dies, upgrade. As for the stereo, buy one of those waterproof covers. BassPro sells them. I used one on my last boat and never had issues. This boat has a Marine stereo.
This is 4 kicker marine along with the kicker bluetooth head unit that fits in the gauge pod. 2 speakers wouldve been plenty but i went with 4 and no AMP!!

Take an old $3 ice chest and mount them upside on plywood about halfway in the chest. Cut out the sides of the ice chest below the plywood for the sound to escape. Cooler works like a boom box, it is portable, and they are out of the weather.
