The key is pixel count in image sharpness and quality. To me bigger is better but I went with a 1022 due to cost difference. I don’t get on the water enough to justify spending the extra$$$.
How much better is the 12 inch over the 12 inch . Chance to buy a 10 for 1,ooo plus tax . Have only used a 93svUHD . How does the 10 compare to the 93 ? Leaning heavy to 12 inch "but " 1000.00 vs 2700.00 got me wondering . your thoughts ?

Eagle, to me what has been most important is flexibility of mount. I rig and single pole and I have a 1222 mounted on a cornfield crappie tele mount and love it. That being said, my good friend has a beat down mount and a 1022 and I like his setup as well. Hope that is helpful.
The 10 and 12 inch Ultra’s have the same resolution, so the picture quality will be the same, the pixels on the 12 in will be displayed a little larger than on the 10 inch.
10 and 12 inch UltraDisplay Resolution 1200 x 800 pixels
The 9 in screen has lower resolution. Display Resolution 800 x 480 pixels
In my opinion there is a pretty big difference between the quality and size of what you see on a 93SV (I only had a plus not a UHD) and what you see on the 10 and 12 inch screens.
I started with a single 12 inch screen, then added a 93sv plus when they were on sale. The first time Cabelas’s put the 10 inch with the GT 54 on sale I added one of those . The second time they went on sale I added another 10 inch and removed the 93sv plus.
Set up right now is a 10 and 12 side by side up front, and a 10 inch in the back that I can use on a tiller steer outboard.
My opinion the price difference between the 9 to 10 inch is worth it picture quality wise. The difference when the 10 inch when on sale vs regular price for a 12 is not worth the $1700 difference. I would buy two of the 10 inch rather than one 12 inch.
I would go with the 10 for the differnce in $$$ Im in the market for a 10 inch myself.Pixel counts the same.

Have you looked at the gpsmap series? 1200x800 pixel count and a lot cheaper

I've gone from a Garmin 1022 to a Garmin 1222. I was very happy with the 1022 but I was sitting pretty close to it. I recommend buying the biggest screen you can afford originally but as an upgrade I don't know that I would do it again.
CATCH A BIG-UN
Ended up with a 1222 gps map with no touch screen . like it a lot . Bought a 56 transducer for my 9 inch and it is like night and day to the old transducer that was on my boat . Using the 9 inch for everything but livescope . 1222 is a stand alone for livescope only . Pocket book lighter for sure but got a great deal from Performance Fishing Electronics on both items .
