    Default DEPTH FINDER LOOSING SIGNAL

At about 8 mph . the screen begins to blink . Transducer is on the left lower area of the transom . I epoxied a block of plastic even with the bottom of boat . Should it be on the side I sit on ?Transducer is set even with the bottom of boat .

Here is an HBird guide. Mine is on the port side of my Tracker 175.

Is this a new issue or happening with a new install? Could be cavitation causing the sonar to lose signal at the higher speed

If you can, lower it just a little below the bottom of the boat. Just be conscientious that anything you scrape over can potentially rip it off. Depending on the type transducer you have you're not going to get very good readings over more than 5 to 6 miles an hour anyway. I have a Humminbird Side Imaging transducer and I can read depth up to about 12 mph but I don't I have any image at that speed. Most Side Imaging is done between 2 to 4.

One more thing to add, make sure you don't have any strakes or ribs directly in front of the transducer as this will cause a lot of turbulent water to pass over your transducer. You will want the flow of water to be as smooth as possible

It is clear of a ridge and flush with bottom of the boat . Since it is a tiller steer it may help to be on the starboard side . I have more of the chopping block material , to make another base .

Starboard side is more of the norm due to standard prop rotation. Place transducer far enough from outboard that it will not make contact of course. And also far enough from outside edge of boat that water rolling/washing back won't interfere and cause turbulence with the xducer. There used to be a set distance but that mainly applied to inboard Motors. Once you're happy with final location, level the transducer to the lake at your scanning speed. There are videos on YouTube explaining this.
