The GT56 UHD is the newer of the two. I believe the 56 is better for side imaging.

I bought a used boat (11 mo.) that has a live scope transducer and a transducer on the trolling motor . Both are connected to a 9 inch Garmin UHD. Would the lesser priced unit be ok to unhook from unit now and put on a new one of the same size . What I am asking will the processer be the same on the uhd models that come with a 54 or 56 transducer ?
