Made from PVC. Idea from Southern Reels Fishing on YouTube. He has one made for boat as well as kayak.

I made mine to mount onto 1/4x3x3 inch aluminum angle that bolts onto a piece of al that runs in a-track and locks down with a setscrew. This track runs length of boat on both sides , so I can move it if necessary. Made it to swivel and then turn back into the boat and lay flat on front deck. Pole itself is aluminum tubing that fits inside another short section of tubing to allow it to turn.

Thanks guys. I have the stuff to build mine out of pvc, but i may end up building it out of aluminum after i figure out if the design is what i end up staying with. Where is your black box installed & how is the wiring ran? Thanks

I put mine under the console and ran cables around edge of deck to it. The transducer plug is so large I was afraid to try pulling it under the deck even though I have a rope already there for runs. After a few trips I think the cables around the edge will be fine.

If I have problems with the cables I had thought I might try to pull electrical wire tubing through under the deck and if I could get it then try the cables through it. That plug is large and if you damage it you are screwed.

I can easily mount the black box in right side rod locker & figured on running cables to head unit in wire loom up & through bow access plate to head unit> I assume this would be fine won't it?

Should be fine. Seen a lot on utube mounted there. My rod locker starts at the rear of the mid seats and just not enough room to mount closer to the front of the locker. Had another small compartment in center of front deck but it would have been a royal pain trying to get wires and cables to it.

1.5" square tubing and an old trolling motor bracket. The pole is fiberglass with a PVC handle. Mounted the black box under the console. Name: 20211229_150344.jpg
