Since you are in new york, make sure whatever battery you choose has LOW TEMP CHARGING PROTECTION. Not all do, and some of the amazon ones claim to but do not (check youtube reviews where they dismantle them). If you try to charge one that is below 33deg F you will immediately damage the cells which will not be covered by any warranty.

Also pick a battery with an actual company behind it, in case you do ever have to use the warranty. A lot of the amazon lithium batteries are just rebranded batteries sold by distributors in cali, with no real company behind them to back them up years down the line.

I bought Ionic through drewcraft. The Ionic manual says to use a charger that outputs 1/10 the capacity of the battery. So 5A for a 50AH or 10A for a 100AH, they can handle a lot more but it claims this is optimal. I bought the noco gen5, amazing how small it is.

Here is a video on the battery you have decided on, doesn't sound great and definitely does not have low temp protection 12V "Ampere Time" LiFePO4 Battery Teardown - YouTube Your fishing might be done until spring unless you have a heated garage.

I live on the east coast around Elizabeth City , NC about 10 months a year and this is the only place I will be using the boat. I would be down here permanent but the wife is not ready do to the grand kids! I saw that video, it was very informative, the reason I got that one he said he would pass that battery but for no cold sensor, he said it was built good other than that. I don't fish in super cold weather anymore, old bones won't take it any more. Thank you very much for the input, and you have a Marry Christmas and a happy New Year! Good luck with your fishing adventures!

He actually recommends this as a budget battery option. AmpereTime, Chins, and Zooms are pretty much the same battery.

Of course - no low temperature charging protection as previously discussed. If you’re in a warm part of the country - not a big deal.

I understand the warm climate not needing it, I read his location that said new york so that is why I emphasized it so much.. my fault.

There is still little chance I would give $350-500 for a battery from a company that might not be in business in 6 months. The way those companies run are just like most chinese distribution companies, they rent a warehouse in southern california and run their business out of it until they either have enough bad reviews to close or the gov gets them for tax evasion and they close. They are often owned by chinese businesses and sell the same products under several different names. When one closes down, the others take over until they can change the name/packaging and open again. A warranty from any of these companies is useless, you basically have your amazon warranty which in the case of lithium batteries is "please ship it back to xyz warehouse" they do not provide a shipping label on them so you are out about $50 in shipping (Will actually talks about this in a couple videos). All of these types of batteries come from the same two warehouses in cali, with about 10 "companies" running in the same warehouse.

I researched lithium batteries for a while before making my purchase, I was either going Dakota (legit USA company but expensive), Amped outdoors (china rebrand but legit company), or Ionic (china made but not rebranded batteries, legit US company). I went with Ionic because of all the positive reviews from people who have had them for a couple years.
